We are hiring a weighbridge clerk

We are currently recruiting for a weigh-bridge clerk. Based at our metal recycling yard in Newry. The job will be full time with competitive rates of pay.

The Job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operating the weighbridge, accurately recording weights and details of vehicles entering and leaving site
  • Issuing instructions to drivers entering and leaving site including Health and Safety and operating procedures
  • Responding to telephone and email enquiries
  • Liaising with other site personnel
  • Processing payments
  • Organising delivery/collection of skips, or ad hoc loads
  • Forklift driving may be required for the loading and unloading of deliveries.

The Person

Essential Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Have at least 2 years administration experience within a busy operational role;
  • Have at least 1 years’ experience in a customer service role. Excellent face to face customer service skills as well as being comfortable on the phone are extremely important in this role as the successful applicant will be the first point of contact;
  • Computer literate with practical experience of Microsoft Office;
  • Have excellent interpersonal and organisation skills;
  • Be confident communicating with people at all levels;
  • Be a good team player.

Desirable Requirements

Applicants who possess one or more of the following will be at a distinct advantage:

  • Previous experience within a weighbridge role;
  • Knowledge of metal recycling;
  • Knowledge of waste legislation.

The role is office based. Working hours are 47.5 hours per week: Mon – Fri 8.00am – 5.00pm with a half hour lunch break and Saturdays 8.00am – 1pm.
